WBMDFC Scholarship 2019: West Bengal Minorities Development Finance Corporation (WBMDFC) provided scholarship every year to the students of minority communities. There are six notified minority communities in India; such as Muslim, Christan, Buddhist, Sikh, Jain and Parsee.

The candidates who are studying in I to XII, UG, PG, PhD, Technical & Vocational courses,  can avail WBMDFC scholarship. In particular, the scholarship is divided into three main categories namely: Pre-Matric, Post Matric & Merit Cum Mean scholarship.

Moreover, the main objective of Pre-Matric scholarship is to encourage the parents to send their children to school and prevent drop-out. In case, the Post-matric scholarship encourages the students to continue Higher Education. Whereas, Merit-Cum-Mean scholarship provides financial support to pursue Technical and Professional courses which are Highly Costly.

WBMDFC Scholarship 2019

In effect, fives types of scholarships will be provided under this scheme:
  • Pre-Matric Scholarship Class (I- X)
  • Post-Matric Scholarship Class (XI to Ph. D)
  • Merit-Cum-Mean Scholarship (Technical & Professional Courses).
  • Talent Search Programme (WBMDFC TSP)
  • Swami Vivekananda Scholarship (XI, XII, UG, PG, PhD, M. Phil, Technical & Vocational courses).

Eligibility Criteria

  • Firstly, an applicant should be a permanent resident of West Bengal.
  • The candidate should belong to six notified communities such as Muslim, Christan, Buddhist, Sikh, Jain and Parsee.
  • The candidate must hold at least 50% marks or equivalent grade in the previous final examination.

Required Qualifications & Income Limit

The candidate also required to fulfil the following eligibility conditions for a particular scholarship.

Pre-Matric Scholarship
  • Applicant studying in Class I - X Within West Bengal.
  • Having at least 50% marks in the previous examination.
  • Family Annual Income Up to Rs 2 Lakh.
Post-Matric Scholarship
  • Pursuing XI/ XII/ UG/ PG/ Technical & Vocational Courses.
  • Having at least 50% marks in the previous examination.
  • Family Annual Income Up to Rs 2 Lakh.
Merit-Cum-Mean Scholarship
  • Student Got Admission in Technical/ Professional courses.
  • Annual family income limit up to Rs 2.5 Lakh.
  • Students of West Bengal studying outside the state are also eligible.
Talent Search Programme
  • A student studying in XI/ XII/ UG/ PG/ PhD.
  • Having marks less than 50% in the previous examination.
  • Annual family income limit up to Rs 2 Lakh.
  • 30% of scholarships are reserved for female candidates.
  • Maximum 2 students of the family can avail. 
Swami Vivekananda Scholarship
  • The applicant got admission in XI, XII, UG, PG, M.Phil &
    Engineering, Medical and Technical/ Professional Courses.
  • Must secure at least 75% marks in the previous exam. 
  • The applicant must be studying in the state-aided institute.
  • At last, the Annual family income doesn't exceed Rs 2.50 Lakh. 


Note: However, a candidate can avail only one State/ Central scholarship for the same course. Also, check the amount provided under these scholarships.

The following amount of scholarship is provided to minority students for an academic year. Moreover, the amount of scholarship is directly transferred to the beneficiary account by direct transfer method.

The online application form only available on the official website of the WBMDFC. To apply online follow the steps given below.

Step 1: Student Registration
  • Firstly, visit the official website www.wbmdfcscholarship.gov.in.
  • After then, Register yourself under the "Student Registration" section. Where you have to enter all your personal details.
  • At last, the system will send "User-Id & Password" to entered Email Id and Mobile Number. (Note down it for further Log in).
Step 2: Login/ Enter Your Details
  • So, Login with User-ID & Password, complete the application process under the "Students Login" section.
  • After then, change your password for security reason and fill-up your basic and academic information.
Step 3: Preview/ Recheck Application
  • Thereupon, Verify your "Bank Account Details".
  • Preview your filled "Application Form" before final submission. So that all information entered by you must be correct.
Step 4: Final Submission
  • At last, print your application from the "Print Application" section.
  • After then, submit the system-generated application form with necessary documents as mentioned.
Moreover, to apply for "Talent Search Programme Scholarship" candidate required to apply through the official website of WB TSP www.tsp.wbmdfc.co.in.

  • Minority certificate (Issued by an appropriate authority)
  • Marksheets of qualified examinations
  • Family Annual Income Certificate
  • Domicile of West Bengal Certificate
  • Aadhaar Card Photocopy
  • Bank copy with Account No/ IFSC Code
  • Recent Photograph

Guidelines/ Instruction

Before applying online must-read Guidelines/ Instructions.
  • Above all, it is mandatory to all candidate to apply through the official website wbmdfcscholarship.gov.in/
  • An applicant required to ensure their eligibility before applying online for a particular scholarship.
  • If a student is found to have obtained a scholarship by false statement, his/her scholarship will be cancelled. The full paid amount of scholarship will be recovered.
  • The student should be regular in attendance as per the rules & regulation set up by the competent authority of the school.
  • In case, a student is found to be violating school discipline or law regulating scholarship may be suspended or cancelled.

Track An Application

Similarly, the candidates who are successfully applied can track the status of their application. To track an application follow the steps given below.
  • Firstly, visit the official website www.wbmdfcscholarship.gov.in.
  • After then, select the "Track An Application" option given in the navigation bar.
  • After then, select the District (where your institute is located), Application Id, DOB & solve Captcha.
  • At last hit, the "Submit" button and your application status will show in the next screen.
Note: However, students whose institute located outside the West Bengal needs to login to Track their application.

Selection Procedure

  • Once, the students who successfully applied through the official portal will be considered for the selection procedure.
  • After then, all the received application will be verified by the Nodal Officer of the respective school. 
  • In fact, those students who do not fulfil eligibility conditions are rejected by the Nodal Officer.
  • Particularly, the selection under Merit-Cum-Mean  Scholarship is made on the basis of % marks of the candidates.
  • After all, the disbursement of funds will be made through Direct Bank Transfer to selected candidates.

Renewal of Scholarship

Candidate can also renew their scholarship for the next year of the course. In that case, an applicant required to fulfil certain conditions:
  • Firstly, a student has to qualify all papers of the previous year of the course in one attempt.
  • After then, student required to score 50% marks (75% for Swami Vivekananda Scholarship) or equivalent in the previous year of course.
  • At last, the candidate required to submit their family income certificate every year of the course.
Finally, Log in with User Id & Password and upload all necessary documents required for the renewal. For example Marksheets, Income Certificate etc.
