CTET stands for Central Teacher Eligibility Test which is conducted by CBSE every year. The main purpose to conduct CTET is to make candidates eligible for the appointment as a teacher in central schools (KVS, NVS, Union Territory States Schools) for classes I to VIII.

The official notification has been released on the official website on 23 January. The examination will be held on dated 07 July 2019. The result will be declared in between 2-3 months of examination.

CTET Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility for Paper 1 (Class I to V)

10+2 (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and [ 2 years Diploma in Elementary Education/ 4 years Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.E.ED)/2 years Diploma in Elementary Education (Special Education)] OR Graduation with at least 50% marks and Bachelor of Education (B.Ed).

Eligibility for Paper 2 (Class VI to VIII)

Graduation (B.A/B.sc/B.com etc) and [ 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education/1 year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed)/1-year B.Ed. (Special Education)] OR 10+2 with at least 50% marks and [4- year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed)/ 4 years B.A/B.Sc.Ed or B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed.]

Note: Candidates who are appearing in the final year of respected courses can also apply for CTET.

To apply for the CTET exam 2019 just follow the steps given below:
  • Step 1: Log on to CTET official website www.ctet.nic.in.
  • Step 2: Go to the link "Apply Online" and open the same. 
  • Step 3: Fill in the Online Application Form and note down Registration No./ Application No. 
  • Step 4: Upload Scanned Images of latest photograph and signature.
  • Step 5: Pay Examination fee by e-challan or debit/credit card.
  • Step 6: Print confirmation page for the record and future reference.

Central Teacher Eligibility Test contains two types of papers. Paper 1 for the Primary stage (Classes I-V) and Paper 2 for the Elementary stage (Classes V-VIII).

Total questions and marks will be 150. Each question carries 1 mark and there is no negative marking. The duration of the examination is 2 hours 30 minutes.

Qualifying Marks

CTET exam is only qualifying in nature. Candidates who scored the following minimum marks get qualified.

After securing these following marks candidate becomes eligible for the appointment as a teacher in Central schools.

After Qualifying CTET

After qualifying CTET examination candidate becomes eligible for the teaching posts in primary and elementary classes. Qualified candidate gets 'CTET Certificate" with a validity period of seven years from the date of declaration of its result.

Moreover, there is no restriction on the number of attempts a person can take for acquiring a CTET certificate.
