Uttar Pradesh TET - Introduction

UPTET is a short form of Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test which is conducted by the department of Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Board every year. The purpose is that to make candidates eligible for the post of teacher up to I-VIII classes. 

UPTET Syllabus

The National Council of Teacher Education (NCTE) laid down some minimum qualifications for a person to be eligible for appointment as a teacher for classes I to VIII. One of the essential qualifications is Teacher Eligibility Test which will be conducted by the appropriate government according to guidelines issued by NCTE.

Another thing is that to apply for any government teaching post up to 8th class, it is mandatory that candidate should be TET qualified. So you can imagine the importance of Teacher Eligibility Test.

UPTET Exam Dates 2018

The examination schedule for Uttar Pradesh TET 2018 is given in the table below. The official notification like every year will come in the month of October. Candidates can apply within one month after the notification arrives.

The examination is likely to be held at the end of December 2018 and the result will be out in the month of February 2019. The last date of application and payment will be updated soon.

UPTET Online Form 2018

Uttar Pradesh TET online application form will be available after the notification arrives. Anyone who is interested and eligible can apply online for the Paper- I or Paper- II or Both, at the website upbasiceduboard.gov.in.

How To Apply:

To apply for Uttar Pradesh TET 2018, firstly visit the official website upbasiceduboard.gov.in.
After then there are four steps to apply follow as:
  1.  Firstly read all instruction carefully before going to the registration process.
  2. After that start your registration process and fill all details that are asked in the application form. Upload your recent photograph and signature or documents and save.
  3. Review your application form and make payment using debit/credit card, Net banking or offline challan.
  4. Print your application form and note down all important details carefully for future reference.
Note: Candidates who are interested in both papers have no need to apply separately, only single registration is sufficient.

UPTET Admit Card 2018

The Uttar Pradesh TET admit card will be downloadable before 15 days from the date of examination. The candidate will take the print out of Admit Card for Paper 1 and Paper 2 separately. Candidates are requested to visit official website upbasiceduboard.gov.in.to download admit card. Finally, To print admit card you will require your Application No. or Name and DOB.

UPTET Eligibility Criteria


Paper-I Eligibility Minimum Qualification Paper-I

10 +2 (or equivalent) with at least 50% (45% NCTE) marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2- year Diploma in Elementary Education/ 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed) / 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education)
OR

Graduation and passed or appearing in final year of two-year Diploma in Elementary Education.

Paper 2 Eligibility Minimum Qualification Paper 2 - II (Classes V-VIII)

Graduation and passed or appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education.
OR
Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed) / 1-year B.ED (Special Education).
OR

Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed) / 4-year B.A/B.Sc.Ed or B.A. Ed/B.Sc.Ed.

UPTET Syllabus 2018

If you know, there are two types of papers in Uttar Pradesh TET. Paper 1 is for the primary level (I-V) and Paper 2 is for the elementary level (V-VIII), teaching posts. The syllabus of Paper 1 and paper 2 follow as:

UP TET Exam Pattern

The exam pattern for both papers is the same some like in the sense of structure. Paper 1 is same for all candidate but paper 2 contains science and social subjects.

Nature of Questions

  • Child Development and Pedagogy: The test items on Child Development & Pedagogy will focus on educational psychology of teaching and learning relevant to the age group of 6-11 years.
  • Language  1: Elements of language, communication and comprehension abilities.
  • Language 2: Language 2 will be other than language 1 prescribed in the application form.
  • Mathematics and Environmental Studies: The main focus on concepts, problem-solving abilities and pedagogical understanding of the subjects. The questions approach for Mathematics and Environmental Studies are from topics of Classes I to V. But the difficulty level could be up to matriculation level.

Nature of Questions:

  • Child Development and Pedagogy:  The test items on Child Development & Pedagogy will focus on Educational Psychology of teaching and learning relevant to the age group of 6-11 years.
  • Language 1: Elements of language, communication and comprehension abilities.
  • Language 2: The Language 2 will be a language other than Language 1 prescribed in the application form. 
  • Mathematics and Science: Concepts, Problem-solving abilities and pedagogical understanding of the subjects. This section contains 30 questions form mathematics and 30 questions form science.
  • Social Studies/Social Science: The questions areas namely, History, Geography, Civics and Economics.

UP TET Passing Marks

The passing marks for Uttar Pradesh TET category-wise are given below in the table.

After scoring following passing marks candidate will consider as eligible for the post of teacher.

Validity Period of Certificate 

The validity period of TET certificate is 7 years from the date of examination in accordance with NCTE Guidelines.
